Can you buy a CORDLESS electric carving knife?

Most Google results give corded ones.

I got rid of mine before I killed myself...or someone ;o)....

Dannyk: as per with Google, most (all?) of those are cordED, except for the Amazon which is ‘currently unavailable’!
Question Author
Thanks Danny, but the Chinese one has got a 1 to 2 month delivery, and the Kenwood isn’t cordless! Difficult, ain’t it.

Right-ho, I'm giving up. I've spent a couple of hours chasing fruitless Google leads. There seems to be only one cordless electric knife available in the UK, a Cuisinart, but at over £100 it seems extravagant!

So I'm going to buy a new bread knife instead.

Out of idle curiosity what is the perceived benefit of an electric carving knife?
There is usually a blade for cutting through frozen meat etc.
i fail to see what difference it makes whether corded or uncorded, unless you are going out on a killing spree. Is this not an item that belongs in my list of most useless gadgets of all time?

The perceived (and real) benefit is that old arthritic hands that can't pull a breadknife back and forth easily can cut even hard-crusted bread with ease with one of these. Hope that's benefit enough for you.

Why cordless? Partly safety, partly ease of use. Otherwise all the cutting has to be done within half-a-metre of the 13amp outlet - you can't for example go from there to the table and cut bread, without having an extension lead!

Thanks bednobs, it may come to that!

But I’m still puzzled over the lack of cordless knives, when so many DIY tools ARE available.

Having been diagnosed with arthritis at the age of 16yrs I am more than familiar with it.

My observation of electric carving knives is that they rip the material to pieces.
I have an electric knife and can't use it because you need strength to cut. So a cordless knife couldn't cut through either.

What about bread with a hard crust?
Ever heard of sliced bread? It's in all the shops, you know.
Question Author
That’s true. We could just switch to all junk food. Far easier.
....so, all bread without a hard crust is "junk food"? Strange ideas.....
Question Author
No you pillock. Pre-sliced whitebread usually is though.
