Hi I'm off to Paris next week for work, only going to be staying for a single night, arrive about 4.00pm, whole evening free, then following morning taken up and afternoon free til about 6.00, so not much time to do anything, however does anyone have any first hand experience of somewhere exquisite for dinner on the first night please? I don't really want to do trip advisor it, I'm more after first hand recommendations. It's me and other half and we're staying a few hundred yards from the Arc de 'Triomphe in terms of area and don't really want to schlepp half way across the capital if possible. If anyone has any suggestions that would lovely. Thanks :)

I’m afraid I don’t qualify in either regard but I would have thought anywhere ‘exquisite’ would be booked up.
i haven't sorry, its been a while since i was there, by the way isn't Paris under threat of the Seine bursting it's banks, and flooding, i read that yesterday.. see if i can find the details.
Is the George V still alive, what about there..
The Seine has burst its banks and there is some flooding so maybe double check if you are going somewhere which may be affected like any river/quay side restaurants.

Yeah Zacs, I probably should have qualified what I mean by exquisite, I don't mean A list / high profile necessarily, I mean genuinely exquisite food. Price isn't too important, don't mind paying for something nice, but just something worth experiencing would be nice. I wished I'd had more time to know I was going but I only found out a couple of days ago so no time really to book anything.
I wish I could afford the George V!
If you’re staying near the Arc de Triomphe and you’re looking for ‘exquisite’, the Champs Elysees is your oyster.

Something like this?

have been to the George V its well worth a visit. Maybe give them a call.

Oops. Didn't see the other posts before posting that^.

Thank you Naomi, George V seems to be garnering recomendations :)
Another thought. Dinner on a river boat.

will they be running if the Seine rises any further..
Question Author
Ooooh, that looks nice emmie, might be worth giving them a call because if the River is having a tantrum they might not be :)
George V maybe - it is very nice, opulent and famous for its cuisine. A tad expensive but if you don't mind that then go for it.
we went on the Bateaux Mouches which was great fun, and not too dear as i recall. This was a while back mind you, having said that Paris has had a lot of rain in recent days so they might not be running..
Question Author
Thank you Naomi and Emmie, a riverboat would be a nice thing, George V is looking like a definite maybe if nothing else presents itself mind you. Knowing us we'll end up being so undecided that nowhere will have a table and we'll end up in Macdonalds lol.
