I like these better than the ordinary Peppermint kind, but have now finished
my last tin, and I can't find anywhere !

Even on ebay. Has anyone seen these about ? They come in a black and white tin.

Even Amazon can't get them atm
Never heard of them! I thought you were describing some sort of physical affliction, Mikey:

"Doctor, my guts are playing me up something rotten. I believe I might have a touch of liquorice altoids." :-)
MIGHTY IMPS

Well known small hard liquorice pellets. The liquorice is strong in taste. Used by many choirs/singers before performing as the sweet also contains menthol!

Sadly these are no longer made :-( the nearest product to the Imps are Nipits

Are these the same sort of thing mikey

Here they are NJ ! ::::

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ALTOIDS-Mints-Liquorice-One-Full-Unopened-Collectible-tin-Licorice-original-wrap-/331593633098?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d34854d4a

But I am not ruddy well paying $40 for them !

Granny....I used to like those little black liquorice things as well, but I wasn't aware that they had stopped making them. Nipits look the same kind of thing though.
You might be out of luck.

Altoids are made by Wrigley's and their UK website only shows the peppermint type as currently available:
http://www.wrigley.com/uk/brands/altoids.aspx

(On the other side of the pond they've also got wintergreen, cinnamon & spearmint: http://www.wrigleyshop.com/info/Shop_Altoids#.Vbbh2LVqGt8 )

So it looks like the liquorice ones have been discontinued. (For a definitive answer, call the Wrigley Care Line on 0845 6048495).
