Have just read this book. Is the title "Shroud for a Nightingale" a quotation? If so from where?

Wouldn't think that it is a quotation. Nightingale is the name of the Nursing School where two students are murdered, hence the name IMO.
I can't think of a quote off-hand. However P.D. James does sometime use quotes 'Cover her face' for example (Duchess of Malfi) so I'm not sure. I'll try to check later, making dinner now. :)

Thanks, Jourdain2, this title has been bugging me for a while. It just SOUNDS as if it must be a quote, say from an old nursery rhyme or suchlike. (The book was OK, if a bit dated!)
No prob. The book was up-to-date when it was written. It's like reading anything older, you need to put your mindset into the time :o)
