Gold plate will wear away over time and depending on how old and where it was bought the item may contain nickel which is the major irritant in jewellery.
Have you tried titanium jewellery? I find anything with nickel in it gives me problems so started to buy titanium costume jewellery and have avoided any rashes etc. so far.
I didn't know about titanium jewellery, I'll give that a bash as I'm allergic to quite a lot of fake stuff, thanks Daffy. I usually wear stainless steel when I can find it, especially on watch straps.
Sorry, didn't answer the question. No, gold plated will probably irritate, it does me.
what you need is hyper -allergenic jewellery
Some people find that a coat of clear nail varnish applied to the inside of the jewellery protects them from the allergic reaction. It doesn't work for pierced ear earrings and the jewellery has to be scrupulously clean and grease free in order for the varnish to stick
Hypo-allergenic, not hyper ;)
yes hypo. I should remember this. Hypo (the po under the bed.
