I wouldn't have thought so, no.

Wear whatever you would like to wear. Don't think you have to chose something 'more casual' just because it's in a registry office though.

As above, whatever makes you happy and comfortable :-)

a wedding at our local register office last year was between a couple dressed as a cowboy and cowgirl. last friday i attended a wedding there and the bride wore black and white.

I bought an ivory one from monsoon but took it back today as I dont feel lovely wearing it. I absolutely love the one on the link below. I think it would look lovely with a white bolero and black and white shoes. Theres only 4 adults and 3 kids attending

Oh that looks lovely, reminds me of the black and white scene from My Fair Lady, really elegant. My one step sister got married in a long back grecian dress, she looked fabulous. I like black for weddings.
