Yes they do help...Got mine in markies..
Marks and Spencers.
Take a look at the Damart website.
I got my som some lovely soft thermal stuff from Primark, very reasonable it was too.
I use Base Layer stuff like Under Armour and the Nike Hyperwarm tops, Conn. They're a bit more expensive but they do the job. I've even worn them in bed when it gets really cold. They do them for women as well...

I'd go for Damart but there are lots of other sellers. Look on eBay.
got mine from Damart
Don't bother with the silk ones. They feel lovely against the skin, but are not really very warm. And they are a shocking price.
I wear one at work - I work in a shop and it is cold. I got a strappy one to start with but soon changed to one with short sleeves. It makes a world of difference. I got mine in BHS.
They are not a miracle cure but they certainly take the edge off.
I won't recommend Damart. Evry other brand I've had has been tumble dried with no problem but the expensive Damart ones shrunk so badly the first time I washed them they were useless.
I like M&S and Asda or Tesco.
I've got some from Primark-I sleep in them. Also have some tops from M&S and Bhs.You can get them in lovely colours, too.
i have some goods one bought from M&S a while ago, if you buy them look for star rating, mine are four star which are very warm, by the way the best thing to use is silk, warmest material i have ever known.
Quick, rush down to Primark -
their winter underwear and pyjama stuff are on Huge reductions. I got winter leggings for £2,
yes two pounds for a pair yesterday
