I need to get my sister a wedding present and have no idea where to start, I was going to buy her some flights for her honeymoon but then she booked something else. All she has asked for is vouchers as all she needs to get is a sofa and a plasma tv. Doesnt really go for the usual glasses and memorabilia etc so any ideas will be very welcome! Cheers

If she said she wants vouchers, why not get those? A couch and tv are rather a personal choice - something she and her husband might want to pick out on their own.

Do you think vouchers are too impersonal a gift?

If she and her husband already have most things (china, furniture, etc.), and if  you prefer not to get the vouchers, then perhaps get them a gift that can be consumed. You can get creative with this, too. For example, perhaps they like to entertain at their home. You could make a gift basket of a few nice bottles of wine, some cognac, scotch, etc. to help them stock their bar. Or perhaps they like the theatre. You could put theatre tickets, taxi money, and gift certificates to a fine restaurant.

Thanks rampart. Indeed the tv and sofa are a personsal choice and also a little out of my budget!! Vouchers are a little impersonal, as they will all be put towards something big I wouldn't like to think I bought a little bit of her sofa! I did think about the theatre but theyre not really the theater going type (in the nicest possible way of course), I like the idea about the booze though, a nice old bottle of Brandy or something - as long as I get a glass when its opened!!!!
That's great! Perhaps you could get two very nice antique brandy snifters and a fine bottle of brandy. Wrap them up carefully and put them in an interesting antique wooden box.
How about booking them into a nice hotel for a night for maybe 2 or 3 months on from the wedding.
I think spudqueen's is a good idea ck1...just because when my cousin got married she said you have a real build up to the wedding...lots of excitement on the day and then the honeymoon...then nothing and it's really deflating.  Rampart's booze idea is good too.
