I have an unwanted engagement ring I want to sell and an expensive pending dental bill, it's white gold, diamond chip and simulated emerald I think it's original price was around £200-300. Anyway, I would love to get rid of it, but wonder if anyone has had any experience of selling second hand jewellery. I was thinking eBay as I don't think I would get a particularly good price through a jeweller. Any advice would be gratefully received.

I don`t think you`ll get much for it to be honest. Diamond chip isn`t worth anything much and simulated emerald is worth virtually nothing. If you put it on ebay you`ll have to start with a low price and if you only get one or two bids, you`ll have to sell it at that price.
White gold is a yellow gold alloy and as the price of gold is high at the moment, I would take it to a jewellers that will give you a price for the gold content.
