I know it's common sense nowadays but just a heads up, really.
I'd applied for a job advertised on indeed.co.uk for www.localcourierservices.net. Got an e-mail couple of days later, looked convincing until the bit where they were asking for £75 to 'complete activation'. Did some 'investigating' (including http://whocallsme.com...#p244676132604988087, and Companies House website - surprise, surprise, it's not registered).
I've reported it to Google too as when you google 'local courier services', they're in the top 3, if not top.

Thank you for letting us know - there are just so many scams out there now!
Thank you for this, guess I always figure, if they are going to pay you, why not take a % off what you earn? why pay up front? then go and investigate.....helps when people like you share the info you find, thanks :)
Hi, yes, I too have been scammed. I did pay up front, guess I was convinced by their guarantee that the money would be refunded if not happy with their services. I have emailed them, phoned them and now, three weeks later I am out of pocket by £75.00 which, when on a pension is a lot of money.
I have posted them on facebook and a web site called canyoutrusthem.com and now am going to email them to tell them, not that I think it wil do any good.

If you go on to their website and click on couriers, you will see, along with my name, about twelve other people that I am about to contact.

I got scammed with this also. Again with it being in the top 3 on google along with the garauntee of a full refund if the buisness proves none fruitfull, I was reeled in.
It excepting my money and named me on the "database" and that is all. I've tried to make contact which is a huge fail. how can crooks like this get away with blatant fraud?
Pity I did not see this before I also fell for their advertised promise. For £75 I am on their website but after more than a month have not had one enquiry. Have tried to get my money back and they just ignore me. They obviously do not know about kharma!

I did report this scam to Google but just had another look, they're still there. And this thread's there too, under local courier service scam !

BUT. What I also saw was THIS.

http://forums.moneysa...wthread.php?t=3207508

If you've paid, it looks like you could be paying ANOTHER £75 on top (check 26ET's post on above link, about 18th down, posted 06-07-2011 7:47 PM).

AND, on
http://www.localcouri...content/databasecosts
they say "To list your services as a self employed courier on our database there is a cost of between £100 and £150 per annum depending on the area in which you wish to work. Payment is taken in two equal amounts, 50% in advance and the remaining 50% after approximately one month. In return for this you are listed in the region that you specified on our database which will always be in the top three results on Google under the search term "Local Courier Services."

Need to get in touch with your bank ...
Pardon my ignorance, but where exactly do you check to see if a company is registered?

I checked the Companies House website, JonnyBoy
http://www.companieshouse.gov.uk/
but there are a few other suggestions on the moneysavingexpert link I posted earlier.
I've been had over by these crooks too! Money wasted on a seemingly proper deal just when i could least afford it; as am trying to set up a business. Have had absolutely nothing for my hard earned cash. Will report to trading standards but am not holding my breath. DO NOT SIGN UP!

Please, diamondsbill, get in touch with your bank. These shysters WILL take a 2nd payment in a months time (see my post above) !!
If I were you, I'd report them to indeed.co.uk too - they don't want dodgy job adverts on their site!
Question Author
I can't see them on the 1st few pages of indeed.co.uk, not even in the 'Ads by Google'. I saw it when I googled (may have been via indeed, can't remember) so until Google remove them (and I have reported it), people are still gonna get drawn in. It does look very convincing at first glance.

The names may be bogus as well. James Brown & Paul Jones ?

He didn't get me. I did my research. Its in the top three on Google because they pay to be there, all websites in the shaded area of google pay to be there, it is not there by merit, anyone can do it. The scam is that they are not a courier firm, all you get is your name on their website then nobody rings you with a job.
What exactly do you say to your bank in order to stop the second payment?
