Every bloomin' year......:o(
The tree is up and we are surrounded by the decorations, etc.
So, in which order should the tree be dressed ?
I reckon, lights, tinsel and then baubles............however, I, apparently (!), am wrong on this; and it ought to be lights, baubles and then the tinsel.

Or are we both wrong ?

Lights ,baubles and then lametta rather than tinsel. When you have finished can you pop over here and do mine please. Oh and clean my oven while you are here if you don't mind. ( It's a Christmas tradition to clean my oven. )
I do baubels, lights then tinsel to cover the wire off the lights
Lights, baubles, tinsel, then finally, the fairy or star on top. And whoever places fairy/star gets a wish.

Remember to plug in the lights to test before you put them on the tree - although if they work at the testing stage you can be guaranteed they'll flake out the minute you get them on the tree and switch on again.
And always switch them off before going out / or to bed

I agree with you, jackthe hat. Def lights first, then tinsel as you can shove it "inside" the tree and cover some of the wires. I didn't know there were actual rules - this is just bog-standard common sense.
I always put the lights on first.
Sorry that should read I always place the lights on the tree first....not switch them on!
Yes, lights first. Then if they don''t work, you don''t have to take everything else off.
LOL

and I thought you were suggesting that decorating the tree in the dark is not the best way to do it :)
Definitely lights first, then trimmings (hate tinsel) then baubles x
Did you watch Kirsty Allsops Xmas prog on tonight Channel 4? She also said Lights first.
