I have some Christmas stamps left over from last year, I also found I have few that could be two or three years old.

I believe there should be no problems using those from last year, but what about the older ones. I feel that there should be no problem, but need reassurance.

I don't want any of my friends to have to pay a surcharge.

Thanks Hazlinny, I'll get onto that site and check now 😊

^ That looks rather out-of-date, no?

If the stamps have bar codes they can be used, if not they had to be used before 31 July this year.  The deadline has also passed for sending them away to be replaced.

We have received several Christmas cards this year with commemorative stamps ( not  barcoded) on the envelope and have not been asked to pay anything for delivery.

From Royal Mail

Originally you said Christmas stamps are being barcoded and non-barcoded Christmas stamps would become invalid as postage - has this changed?

Following our announcement on 1 Feb 2022, and subsequent discussions with key stakeholders, including feedback from our customers, we have removed Christmas stamps from our Swap Out scheme. These stamps are mostly kept by customers to send their Christmas cards and we anticipate that the vast majority will have been used by the end of this year. We are still adding a barcode to Christmas stamps, but non-barcoded Christmas stamps will remain valid so can continue to be used after 31 July 2023 and therefore there is no requirement to swap them out.

Any special stamps with a picture on, or Christmas-themed stamps, can still be used even if they don't have a barcode.

Thank you Floko for confirming what I thought.

....  and thank you roslyn

When I was younger I had a temporary Christmas job in the PO.

I delivered a card that only had two Green Shield stamps on it.

It got through the sorting stages without anyone noticing or maybe, like me,  they did.
