Christmas cards?

I have tired of sending cards at Christmas, it is such a waste of card etc., and very expensive for the postage.

Instead of sending cards, we have a collection at work and give the money to charity. It's less wasteful than buying lots of cards, so give it a try.

I've not sent them for quite a few years - it got up to 150 and I thought that this was silly. It's so lovely not to have the worry of getting them all done in time, and my friends don't seem to mind. A lot of them still send me one. I make a donation to charity instead.

close family will get cards, and my children will still give cards out at school. I will, however, swap my card sending for a donation to either the East Anglian Childrens' hospice or Clic sargent this year.

Close family and friends only. Labels pre printed. Takes a couple of hours all told.

It's nice to get cards.

Only send now to very elderly relations and friends that I am fond of but live too far away to see very often. Amounts to less than a dozen cards.

I can't see the point in sending them to close relations (except the elderly ones). I see my close relations and can wish them a happy christmas!
Surely it's better to send cards to people you are fond of but can't see at Christmas time?

Loftie, i send one to MIL and also to my parents. The kids then send to aunts and uncles and to grandparents. Do you realise how upset 4get would be if those 2 didnt send her a card????

I must admit when our parents were alive we sent them cards, but I don't send cards to my husband or my son and partner - can't see the point.

Hand made cards from kids are nice for relations to receive.

i will be conforming again this year, and sending to people whom i will not see! but i agree, its not environmentally friendly and can be very expensive! x

I send them - but to far-away people, we send electronic greetings cards now.

There is nothing to stop you emailing a card to a whole pile of people...

I can't believe how tight or lazy people become when it comes to giving cards at Christmas.I give cards to all my neighbours in the close where I live.Also special cards for my family most of which I don't have to post.The ones I am left with that require posting are to friends and relatives who in my opinion are worth at least the cost of a stamp.Come on people and get writing. A book of 1st class stamps doesn't cost that much and boxes of Christmas cards can be bought very cheap.

dont think its people being tight, most people dont see the point in spending money on a bit of card when there are much more important things to spend money on

I'm sending very few cards this year, instead I'm using the money to by a loo for an African family via Water Aid. Money better spent methinks.

Sorry 4getmenot but if people can afford to buy presents then they can afford a few pence for a card.IMO people seem to complain about the cost of a stamp and I understand that but it's once a year for gawd's sake. Keep in touch with friends and loved ones over Christmas, send them a card.

I understand people might want to give to charity and other good causes but you can do that at anytime of the year you can only send Christmas cards at Christmas :-)
