(Was there no question box, as you left it blank. I'm trying to work out whether it's a problem with AB )
Infra-red sensor picks up the heat from your hands for the tap, or from your body for the door. Problem with doors...a dog passing by can cause it to operate, or, in very cold weather, your cold thick outer clothing may mean the door sensor doesn't know you're there!!
