What is happening at the extremities of the universe?

If we were at the very edge(if there is one) of the universe, would it still be hurtling away from a central point or would you stay were you where and the universe would keep moving on outward away from you leaving a trail of whatever behind?

There is no centre or edge. On large scales, the universe appears to have a similar appearance from anywhere else as it does from where we just happen to be observing. The universe did not expand away from a single point in space and time. The point itself unfolded the dimensions of space and time and the relationships of distance and velocity we currently observe, perhaps along with some other dimensions we are not yet aware of or adequately defined.

We are however at the centre of a boundry of observable space, a view limited by that allowed by the speed of light from when the universe first expanded and cooled to transparency. As our capabilities improve we are just now beginning to observe features of the universe when it was a mere billion years old.

Even so the centre from which we observe is unique only in that it is our centre and a similar view is what we would currently expect from any other viewpoint, even from the 'edge' or our observable space.
