....in the inch war myself, i do have a certain amount of sympathy for the overwieght, I have a constant battle and live in the GYM etc to hold the lbs at bay, and yes, agree that you have to play the deck you've got and if you are one of those that puts on weight, you have to find ways to manage that, anyway I suppose I'm struggling to understand how you could let it get this bad:

I mean at some point wouldn't we all say enough is enough and do something? In my case I may be thinking ok so maybe I'll need some bigger trousers unless I reverse the trend but would you let lt get to the stage where you can't walk? and enter that vicious circle of eating thousands of Calories and barely moving? Your thoughts please

this is what happens to someone when they have very little enjoyment in their lives, except food. they also don't seem to have a good enough friend to help them beat it, in my opinion. we've all seen the documentaries, and someone close always seems to be helping them maintain/increase their weight.

after all, once you're bed-bound.. someone else must be bringing the junk to you.
That's what I can't understand Sara. Why don't they just refuse to bring them junk and bring them fruit and veg.
from what I've seen, ummmm, they just want to see their loved ones "happy". it's bizarre. I don't get it!
My youngest son is very greedy and will sneak snacks....so I don't buy them now and the only thing he can eat is fruit.
well I confess, we eat a bit of junk but it's more than balanced with healthy stuff. maybe we've lucky, but my kids and I are a slim build.. and I know when to stop eating rubbish to keep my weight in line!
There are a number of reasons people get very overweight.

One of the most interesting is appetite malfunctions.

A bit like running a car with a defective fuel guage - some people feel ravenously hungry - unless they eat all the time.

I know someone with the opposite problem who will forget to eat for long periods of time unless reminded.

I can't quite iunderstand how it's possible to get to this size and stay there even with constant eating - I know that Sumo wrestlers try desperately to keep their weight up but that it tends to fall down when they are out of "training".

I guess some people just have a "perfect storm" of phyisical, biochemical and psycological issues that result in these cases
I always used to be repulsed by Fatties, and think just go for a god damn jog....
That was until I read about John hartson the foorballer. He was always a big lad but said he would run 6 miles a day but if he ate a cheeseburger he would put on half a stone!!!!! I guess some poeple are just really unlucky!

Thanks all, Jake, i think this the condition you refer to is Prada-Willi:
http://en.wikipedia.o...Prader-Willi_syndrome
That's certainly one but I think there are many disorders

http://en.wikipedia.o...Bardet_Biedl_Syndrome for example

There's even some evidence of a "fat virus" but I'm not sure how mainstream that idea is

These are certainly sad cases - thankfully rare enough to be news worthy
