everywhere ive looke only gives complicated answers
can someone explain it in simple terms?
prev during the carboniferous period were there any glaciers in the north of england (castleton to be precise) that melted causing the sea levels to rise?

Seems to be made of alternate layers of rock (strata) that contain marine and then non-marine sediments, thereby providing evidence that the area is periodically covered by the sea (well water). Hence the cyclic nature.
