It's the words "april fool" spelt backwards. Probably more of a quiz question than science though.
It is a vulcan weapon from Star Trek...

From Wikipedia

"A lirpa is a Vulcan weapon consisting of a wooden staff a little over a meter in length, with a semicircular blade at one end and a metal bludgeon on the other. Captain James T. Kirk and Spock used lirpas when they fought for possession of T'Pring during Spock's Pon farr ritual in "Amok Time". Soldiers sent after Jonathan Archer and T'Pol fought with lirpas because Vulcan's "Forge" region makes conventional energy weapons useless."

Well done squarebear, I put it in science because my fiance told someone he'd just been diagnosed with Loof Lirpa. Thought it was quite funny and I didn't want to make it too obvious lol!
I think Gromit must be having an April fool. Years ago on TV there used to be a proramme called "that's life" - a sort of jolly consumer come entertainment show presented by Esther Rantzen and assorted crew (changed periodically).

Occaisionally, these shows fell on April 1st and they did spoof reports to coincide. On one they had the car driving dog, and on another, a new animal at London Zoo, the Lirpa Loof.
