I doubt very much if anyone consumes it. It is harmful.

Worldwide 4000 � 5000 Tonnes of 2-butene-1,4-diol are produced per annum, most of which is used for the production of endosulfan, the production of pyridoxine (vitamin B6); and in mixtures with other compounds as bactericide.
