If one could imagine the drifting titanic movements of outer layers of the Earth in it's development stages in super fast-forward motion, what kind of patterns of change could be detected? Of motion in all of Earth's plates and the continents they now represent, not forget to mention the hills and crevices contained in them?

Does anything like a cycle exist in the formulation and evolution of our planet's exterior?

How old is the life of land we now know it to be? Proportionately to Earth's existence of 4.57 billion years (Wikipedia, 2007), what's the value?
