Several bacteria induced illnesses are prevented by vaccination... such as diptheria, bacterial meningitis tetanus, typhoid, cholera, and tuberculosis...
Vaccinations can be used to help the body build up antibodies to any antigen. Research is currently being done to protect against higher organisms such as the protozoans that cause malaria or sleeping sickness. Farm animals are also vaccinated against lungworms - an even higher organism.
