No. The type of mould that grows in bread is the same as the mould you find in cheese i.e. stilton.

btw - just breaking off the green bits doesn't remove the mould. These are just the spores (the flowers/seeds), the rest of the mould (it's roots etc) will be growing thru the surrounding bread.
I don't think it would be possible to accidentally eat mouldy bread. As soon as it goes in your mouth, the taste is so evil that you would have to spit it out. I did this once when very drunk, and could taste the mould for hours after!!! Uuuuuuuuurrrrrggggghhhhhhh!!!x
Maybe if you're allergic to penicillin!!
Hi Katie x
Hello country_boy.xxx (sorry tali122)
I'ts actually pretty easy to eat moldy bread by mistake. I ate almost a whole slice once before realising it was modly. I had to make myself sick as soon as i realised because i thought i would die.
probably, if you are going to be ill, you will be or will have been by the time you read my message...

you must understand that the food poisoning bacteria that makes mould is more or less natural,

YOU may have a natural immunity to the bacteria, but probably not,

not all mould will make you ill, and even if it does have the potental to make you ill, you need to eat a sufficient amount to get to certain parts of your body.. you might just have a tiny stomach ache and poop a little too smoothly next visit, or you might have a week off work and not be able to stand up...

basicly, if you are ok, youll probably be ok, if you are ill, then flush your system, eat only dry toast, avoid exessive liquids, wait 48 hours after symptoms leave before you cook or prepare or touch food that anyone else will consume... this should minimulise YOUR illness, but i am not a doctor, if you are ill, consult your gp!

food poisoning will normally come from spores or bacteria that you cant see.... these are worse than most moulds...

Hey country_boy - seriously? it might be dodgy for someone allergic to penicillin? We just found out my son is allergic to it (after a middle of the night rush to hospital after he reacted to his medicine). Do i need to take extra care with bread too?
My mum is terrible for keeping things way passed date, even bread. "Oh nothing wrong with that". She`s 86 & never had any illnesses re tummy. I think were all obsessed with "sell by"
mycats - I'm not sure to be honest, hope I didn't freak you out! I've been searching but haven't found anything concrete - don't know if there would be enough to cause a problem but best avoid to be sure. Bits of info so far:
