When my sister was really young (about 2 or 3) she said she had seen an old lady upstairs who was holding a baby and smiling at her. When my father went to visit his aunt (who has some psychic ability) she told him that his mother had visited my sister along with my father's sister who died as a baby!

I hope that made sense. Spooky isn't it.

Has anyone on AB ever seen a ghost? When, where...? No silly replies please.

i have seen 2 unusual things that i can only think may be ghosts.
1) a black dog ran next to my car at 50mph

2) a man dressed in a quaker style hat and frock coat walking along a dark road late at night. His hands and face were first thing we saw as we drove nearer as they were white. he walked along a pitted bank at side of road staring into full beam headlights and not stopping or faltering. Both my husband at time and myself refused to go back and check it out

Gosh, that has sent a shiver down my spine! I would like to think that I would've gone back to check it out - only if I was with someone else though!

I am so interested in this sort of thing but also a bit of a wimp. If I'm on my own in bed and I hear strange noises I switch the light on straight away and leave it on until my fiance comes to bed.
Not sure if it classes as a ghost exactly but when I was a teenager I had a tv in my room, one night I fell asleep with it on and I dreamt that a man in a top hat wearing clothes from dickension times came in to my room and told me I shouldn't go to sleep with this on and turned it off. Next morning I woke up and the TV was unplugged, at the time I was home alone for the weekend. I found that spooky and slept with the lights on til my folks came back.
ive got a friend who is a paranormal investigator and she has offered to check out the flats where 4getmenot lives and where i own.
when i walked around in my flat I always looked down to end of corridor towards the old connecting door to 4getmenots flat (was boarded up when it was split to flats) as if i should expct to see someone there.
oooh china, thats strange.
When I was about three , I used to chatter away in my room , laughing and giggling which disturbed my parents because no-one was there. When they asked who I was talking to , I laughed and said 'The grey lady. She's funny'. When they quizzed me about what she looked like , I described my paternal gran who died when I was two. The strange thing is , my youngest daughter who is three started nursery in April and when she came home after her first day , we asked her if she had made any friends. She merrily rhymed off various kids' names but I stopped in my track when she began talking about the funny lady - who was grey. For days she kept saying that she was playing with Sarah and when I asked her if that was a girl in her nursery , she laughed and said 'no mummy , the lady who stands at the window'. That scared the hell out of me because Sarah was my gran's name ! Now that is spooky. I have never mentioned my gran's name to her so either she has one hell of an imagination , or my gran is popping in again to visit the next generation !
I know Red... spooked me big time.

Enigma, while that sends shivers up the spine I also find it kind of comforting if that makes any sense at all.
Yes I know what you mean China Doll. I guess we all worry about what happens to our loved ones when they pass on and it's nice to feel as if they are still there , watching over us. I'm not convinced that when we die it's game over. There has to be more because there are too many events which can not be accounted for and millions of people who have had similar experiences can not be wrong. I have had loved ones come to me in dreams and I wonder if this is them trying to get in touch with me or just wishful thinking on my part. No-one really knows for sure but I take comfort in believing that they are still looking after us from the other side and guiding us.
Yes me and my mate saw a man stood in the middle of the road under a bridge, we know it wasnt our imagination as she swerved to miss it and I put my hands up. When we got back to mine we both drew a picture of what we saw, a man in a tall hat with his back to us. My little sister also saw my late granddad on the side of a road making her slow down and when she got round the corner a crash happened right infront of her.
oh Id forgotten about that 4getmenot.
What about your 'gas leak' too?
yer last year I woke up very dizzy and I'd had a recurring smell of gas at my flat door. I got people out to check it and they found a gas leak from the Indian downstairs but spookily the bloke said there would be no gas smell in my flat as I didnt have gas and wasnt close enough to Indian. I think it was a sign, and only me and my sis could smell it.

Enigma, that not only sent a shiver down my spine but also brought tears to my eyes. That is so spooky but I agree with China Doll too, it is kind of comforting.
i went to the loo one night about 5 years ago, and hadn't shut the bathroom door as it was late at night and no-one else was awake. While on the throne, so to speak, a man walked out of the kitchen, crossed the hall, stopped and looked right at me - right into my eyes. And walked through the wall beside the front door and out of the flat...

I was so scared I couldn't move - I was cold, and utterly TERRIFIED in a way I've never experienced any other time in my life. I couldn't sleep for a few days after that. Not long after that I saw an interesting programme on Ch4 about sleep abnormalities, and quite a few people had had strange experiences whilst 'asleep' which matched up with what I felt had happened. It seems to also be similar to the incubus-type stories too. I'm not sure what I saw, but I know I saw something...
in 1991 i was driving on the ormeau road in belfast (near the city centre end) and a woman walked in front of my car. i was sure i had hit here as i heard a bumb. She was (to my mind) wearing a long flowing skirt and had a cloth cap on and looked like a farmers wife (unkempt but healthy). I stopped the car and searched for her as i was afraid that she could be on the undergrowth and needed help. The car was not damaged. It was about 10 pm in the night. I called out and as it was dark and windy i could not see much. a few cars even drove past. As i did not have a mobile phone i drove to a nearby shop and rang the police. they came over quickly enough but from their demeanour it appeared that they were not really searching and i even asked why they had not called an ambulance. They did not tell me but i found out that this had happned a few times before. apparently a family were killed on that turn about 20-30 years ago (not terrorist related). I still shudder to think about it.
at least you were in best place to sh1t yourself
Hi JOEY,

No one will probably believe this, but my sister lived in a house in Jersey, that was haunted, They called in a priest to bless the house and he just ran away saying the house was evil, a spiritualist went over from England and told her there was something in the hall under the stairs, when it was dug up they found the bodies of 2 children, and a secret room under the lounge with an alter and images of devil worship, she even told my sister that she felt there had been incest in the property, apparantly Jersey was full of witchcraft 100 or so years ago,it still gives me the willies,my sister never went back into the house, this is true, honestly.
redcrx - great retort!
oh Ray thats awful. No wonder she didnt go back.

Hi Raysparkx

That is like something from a movie! I think I would've burnt the house down and moved as far away as possible.

My fiance's grandmother said that when she was a young girl she woke to find an old lady sitting on the end of her bed. I can't remember whether she said something or not. My fiance's grandmother is the most lovely, honest person. There really has got to be something hasn't there.
Hi red,

it really is true,it started with her little girl talking to herself,my sister thought she had an imaginary friend, but then she started asking why did the little boy and his sister wear funny clothes, she even told my sister his name, and the wierd thing is when they took the bodies out to be buried,as they went into the graveyard,my sister was looking around at the old gravestones and there were two childrens graves (brother & sister) and the boys name was the same as the one her daughter called the little boy, really spooky.
