Can't give you definitive answers to your questions, but have you checked NASA's ISS/shuttle tracking web page for Birmingham ?

Unfortunately, they're saying no sightings are possible in the next few days for either vehicle, but it seems to be updated regularly, so you could check back every so often.

thanks JerryB,great help,great site.
(N52:28:43 W1:53:41)

For more precise coordinates click your location on this map and look for coordinates near bottom of page (in small print).
I'd agree, somewhere around 52 29' N, 1 54' W.

I haven't gone so far as staing seconds of arc, as that will depend on where you are in Brum.

(Sorry, baileys, didn't see this yesterday - it was only your reply on another thread that got me curious !!)

( I must pay more attention in AB)

Im just finding the latest shuttle flight so fascinating, a number of months ago I caught a glimpse of (what I believed to have been )the ISS shooting over the night sky, quite exhilarating .been googling a few sites ,just trying to broaden my horizon so to speak. Thanks guys
