I can't keep a beat/I have no rhythm*
I wonder why you find this necessary but have you tried typing numbers? This might help you get into some kind of rhythm. Have you ever taken any piano lessons? Getting students to count out the timing of notes from measure to measure can be quite challenging for student and teacher alike.

That is a brilliantly difficult thing to say.

Yeah, I have tried typing numbers; that's easy.

I did take piano lessons, but the teacher wrote on my book in red pen after I told her not to, so I quit.

its because the left hemisphere of your brain is utilising your short term memory which has limited space so the right hemisphere is left to struggle. or the right is overpowering the left, depending on what you are concentrating on more. if you were to type something logical instead of creative, like the alphabet, you would be able to count at the same time easily as both tasks are using the left hemisphere.
