What is the difference between a confidnce interval and a standard error

Confidence interval = 'I'm right, same as last time!"

Standard error = 'I know I'm right!'

heathfield, Thanks, you saved me from having to post this:

A confidence interval is a range within which a certain percent of probably exists, that data from a particular sample will apply to any individual member of the group being sampled.

Standard error is an estimate of variation between all possible samples of the same size.

I made these �definitions� up in hopes that it will incite someone to provide the real answer.

confidence interval = I,m always right they must of changed the formula

standard error= you know they changed the formula but you still use the old one and still expect the right answer
