Are you a royalist?

Personally I'm not.
I just don't understand the hype surrounding the Royal family (forthcoming marriage, birth etc)
If Joe Bloggs, from a council estate, announced a marriage or birth who would give a fig?
But because some ultra rich 'ruling' family do its all over the news. Why?

I have actually met both Charles and Camilla, and very nice they were too, but what makes them any different from you or I? (or from joe Bloggs from a council estate)?

I wouldn't go as far as to describe myself as a Royalist, but I do like the whole notion and History around the Royal side of our country.

If I were made aware of Joe's wedding or imminent new arrival, I'd be very happy for him too.

I don't understand some people's resentment towards them either though. Most of them haven't chosen it- I certainly don't envy them.

I'm not a royalist, but I am interested in the history of the Royal family. I find it fascinating that a middle class girl is going to be read about in books as a queen consort and mother of a King the same as all those other queen consorts in history.

If Joe Blogg's wife from down the road had just had a baby, I'd still be interested to know its name and weight at birth, and coo over it if I walked past them in the street.
