The Big One could be as little as 30 to 50 years away. Until now it had been thought to be a million or more years away.
There are bigger problems than Brexit to worry about!

// it will wipe the entire USA and Canada off the face of the Earth ! //

No it wont. It may kill people but it wont wipe the countries off the map.

It will of course make a complete mockery of all this effort for the Global Warming b***ks.
"I am not a scientist..."

Well, quite.
YMB....my understand of the effects of Yellowstone blowing is that it will produce dust and darkness on a scale that humans have never seen before, wiping out the sun. Yes, some people will die immediately but many billions will not survive for very long afterwards.
Mickey, read Eddies post at 22:06. He amends his first rather dramitic claim.
I have read what he says. If North America were to be obliterated, just how would that effect us ? Millions of people dying.

Very badly IMHO.
Well mibn, just need to work out how to pierce it without getting a face full of lava :-)
What about fracking? Would that work?
This is a chance for volcano scientists to redeem themselves.
After Mount St. Helens, Soufriere Hills and the Iceland one, so-called experts should be drilling a big hole and piping the hot heat up to a big spinny thing which in turn will create electricity using magic as always and release the pressure.
A network of pipes can then be run to every country in the world (except France because they don't need hot water, v. smelly) and a new age will dawn.

Of course I expect my plans to be pooh-poohed by so-called scientists with a vested interest in keeping us all shivering with cold and fear while their demonic engines disguised as "wind turbines" slowly try to blow the planet off course for their own reasons.

President Trump was right: Covfefe!!!!!!
Tilly....you may part of the answer. Scientists have posited that Yellowstone could be "tapped" in some way, as to reduce the enormous pressure building up.

But it would cost huge sums of money and as long as we have a President that would rather spend billions building walls, rather than dealing with this potential problem, I wouldn't hold your breath on anything happening soon.
Yes badly Mickey the World as we know it would cease to be.

Would we ALL die? Not necessarily. Like many things there is the pessimistic view and the optomistic view.

I used to be a pesimst but it caused depression so now I always try and look at the optomistic view.
Mickey, it would have to be designed first and would be a long way off build.

I doubt Mr Trump will be in Presidency then as you can only have two terms max.

^^ You see^^, Mikey agrees! I repeat, covfefe, nothing was ever clearer or more bigly needed. Very drilly!!
YMB...and there is also a realistic view. I think nobody disagrees that when Yellowstone blows, the effect upon the immediate surrounding in North American will be massive. Depending on weather conditions, the black clouds would drift westwards, and could envelope the planet. It has happened before after all.
I was being flippant with my fracking remark.
I blame Maggie Thatcher.
If it blows it blows. There's not much point worrying about it.
The dinosaurs had a good run, we've had a good run. It's probably time for the Cockroaches to take over.
I don't care if my time is up, so long as it's quick and painless !
// I blame Maggie Thatcher. //

Do keep up Ron - everything's Brexit's fault now. We've moved on from Thatcher.
