By weight, the element silicon comprises 28% of the Earth's crust, the second most abundant element. It is also the eighth most abundant element in the universe.

The most abundant element in the Earth's crust is oxygen (46% by weight), and the third, aluminium (8% by weight).

Thus, it will come as no surprise that silicate minerals (SiOn {the value of n can vary} ) are extremely common, and that a large group of these are alumo-silicates.

i hear that over 30% of the earths population is made up of people that don't do their own homework :)
