Say you have a laser that will melt right through a peice of steel.  Can you reflect the laser with a mirror?  If so Y dosn't the laser melt the mirror?

It depends on the quality of the mirror. Mirrors do not reflect back all the light that falls on them - some of it is absorbed and this will heat the mirror. A perfect mirror will reflect all the light and you would not be able to damage it - but that is accademic as there is no such thing. A mirror wich reflects the light much more efficiently than the steel will not be dammaged as rapidly.
