Weird question i know but i'm doing an egg eating competition and a sausage eating competition soon afterwards so am looking for the best throat lubricant so need a scientific edge. A few in the eating competition game swear by olive oil to help them win eating competitions but is olive oil the most slipperiest? Someone told me that soy bean oil would be more slippery due to micro granules at the cellular level but i have no idea whether this is true or even what it means to be honest. So which oil would you recommend me to use?

Hopefully one you like the taste of :o)
Sorry to do this, Fatjoe but it's the 'most slippery' you're looking for.
To be honest I'd advise the healthiest because it isn't going to make much difference. Use extra virgin olive oil.

Vakayu that would be a bonus but to be honest my tastebuds have been absolutely smashed to smithereens through years of abuse so it probably wouldn't matter. Thanks till2 i knew it looked wrong.
You are welcome, fatjoe.
I would have thought that olive oil, being a natural product would be the most lubricant, I'm no expert but could the other manufactured oils have a water base? Whichever you choose hopefully it wouldn't have a laxitive effect..... or maybe that will be OK since you are eating eggs which will probably bung you up!
Ugh, that sounds revolting.....

dizmouk2009 how does it compare to other oils though? Does anyone know whether there's some kind of chart somewhere on the net showing the differences between oils? I can imagine someone like mythbusters or brainiac doing something like that but i couldn't find a thing so far.
How did he cream crackers go, FJ?

Or haven't you done it yet?
Castor oil is one of the more slippy oils.
Unfortunately, it's slipperiness will pass through the body making it slippy at both ends.
From a scientific view I'd have thought the finer the grade of oil then the more slippery it is. Olive oil (apart from tasting foul IMO) is quite a thick oil, how about liquid parrafin? That's certainly used to shift food through the system.
You're going to be doing this competition whilst sitting on the toilet!
Why do I have the feeling that Castrol GTX would work fine.
Based on experience - the slippier the oil, the quicker you have to have access to the toilet......

Joggerjayne unfortunately i had to pull out due to a sprained jaw but more ahead.
Thank you graham and prudie i never thought of those two.
I think i'll have to construct an experiment myself, maybe buy a pork belly, tilt at an angle and spray different oils onto it and time an egg from top to bottom with a high speed camera? Would that be a fair experiment to ascertain which is the best. Got some plans to draw up and a few friends to phone now. Good evening and thanks all.
!
Sorry to hear you had to withdraw, FJ.

Good luck with the next one.

Castrol actually got their name from Castor Oil which was used to lubricate engines in the early days.
