Since having two cataracs removed last July I see extra colours in the blue/violet band . When I look at greys and blues I see a range of shades of violet through to purple. The sun shining on black looks purple. Pinks look violet . Sunsets are wonderful . Gas flames are a mixture of violets.
It's all rather pleasant but why has it happened ?
I expected a lot more light to enter through the new lenses but why the extra colours that no one else sees. I know several people who have had the same op and for a few days they see a lot of blue but no one sees all these extra violet shades.
It's not much of a problem but when my grand children visit wearing new clothes I have to ask my daughter what the colours are before I comment.

Any ideas ? The consultant didn't know why it's happened.

Best guess is that if a lot of people see a shift to blue, you've had the same but more marked. Natural variation in the way these operations progress? Anyway just enjoy, sounds like you've got nothing out of this other than a chance to see things in a way few other people ever will. Wonderful luck!
What you are descibing sounds a lot like what is described in the article, modeller.... does any of that sound familiar?

LG Yes great ! That's it, I recognise many of the symptoms. I haven't lost anything but rather gained a wider range of colours. However it's strange walking around in violet trousers which I know are grey.
How did you find that site ? I had been on the web but nothing really relevant came up. I'm surprised my consultant didn't know about it.
He obviously knew about seeing blue for a few days but not all these other colours.
When it happened to me after my cataract operation I assumed it was because cataracts are yellow. And since I had been looking at the world through a yellow filter for ages I was suddenly seeing the whole visible range, with the re-established blue end been the most startling.
