Are there any drawbacks to buying an 'unlocked' mobile phone?

I want a phone that isnt available on my network (Virgin) but is freeley available unlocked on Ebay.
Any reason why I shouldnt go ahead and buy one?

They are more expensive unlocked.

and as it's on ebay remember that if it looks to good to be true then it probably is.
I've bought 4 and they have been perfect.
They may retain original provider menu options. But you can ignore them.
