im wondering if there are any articles or studies in psychology that directly look at "suppressed creativity"

i personally couldnt live without my creative ability - i dont care what it is writting drawing editing recording something on video audio a doodle its just a real need to do something creative.

im curious to see if theres any psychological study discussing what happens when a persons creative desire is suppressed. Obviously a prison cell would be an extreme example... but im thinking there must be stories of peoples lives who grew up with their creativity suppressed...

it probably sounds stupid but im genuinley curious and wanna read more!!!

There is a notion that we are all actors, playing a role as we go through life. We modify the role we should like to play to fit in with the expectations of other people. If this leads to the denial of our creative urges then possible a feeling of not belonging to society can arise. This may lead to mental illness of various kinds. There was a chap called Erving Goffman who wrote about this kind of thing but its too many years since I read this stuff. Wonder if there are any pukka socologists out there who could help.
