helium is lighter than the combination of gases that constitute air
 helium (what happened there?)  has a lower atomic weight than air( that is a generalised mixture of nitrogen ,oxygen etc.) so it is displaced upwards by the surrounding air. such as anything that floats on water. ie 1 litre of helium weighs less than 1 litre of air, as 1 litre of polystyrene weighs less than 1 litre of water so the polystyrene floats on water.the helium floats on the air( or attempts to)

Once the airship has been used, the engineers can inhale the helium to make cool squeeky voices.

A property is a characteristic of something - there are an almost limitless number of  properties of anything colour, taste, density conductivity, atomic number, valency the list is endless.

Helium is a noble gas therefore inert so will be unreactive in the athsmosphere!
