TITLE OF POSTING
This is crofter posting on behalf of Christiana:

Good morning all. This is Queen Christiana, the slightly less Cheerful One, as this is my last week of setting the MM Links. It’s been such fun and I hope this final week will prove both challenging and enjoyable for regular Linkers.

Apart from gardening, another enduring favourite in my life continues to be my love of puzzles – cryptic crosswords in particular, but all sorts of other puzzles intrigue me. One of my earliest memories is of my father attempting a huge two-page crossword in the Evening Standard and spending days in the library trying to work out whether ‘fitch’, ‘bitch’, ‘witch’ or ‘Circe’ was the correct answer to one somewhat ambiguous clue. He was a runner-up in that competition and until recently I still had the, by now, extremely dog-eared Roget’s Thesaurus that was his prize.

It was my father who taught me how to tackle cryptic clues and drummed into me certain ground rules, such as words like ‘muddled’ which could indicate the presence of an anagram, and encouraged me to let my eyes rove across the clues for answers that were hidden somewhere in them. It was left to my mother to teach me to spell, play cards and to enjoy word games like Palindromes, Scrabble and Lexicon.

As far as playing the MM Links game is concerned, I shall follow the rules relating the word length as introduced by crofter. Each of my chosen link words contains at least four letters and at most eight. Stray outside this range and you will be wasting one or more of your attempts! Each of my selected words may go in front of or after my challenge word. The competition will officially close at 7.00pm on Sunday evening when my selected words will be declared, and points awarded by crofter in the usual manner. My final set of words to be puzzled over should appear below at 9.00am.
Well nil points so far so perhaps today ????
