Can anyone confirm the year the St John's Ambulance was formed in England ? I have looked it up & have read 1887 on some websites but others have various dates so I'm a bit confused ! Any help much appreciated , thanks .

According to their own website the St John Ambulance Association was formed in 1887 and The St John Ambulance Brigade was formed in 1888:

St. J A is 1877 - I worked for the Chief Medical officer at that time and was presented with a centenary bookmark in 1977.
