All sorted - I found a reference to 'lime' as a Jamaican term for 'hang about' http://www.jamaica-gl...eisure/cleisure2.html
and
SLAES is Scots for sloes (fruit)
Lime is a West Indian slang word for to loiter or hang about (definition 5 in Chambers). Took me ages to figure that one out.
slae is a scottish word for sloe (then pluralise)
