1d] ruddy?
EBAY (consecutive letters)
10a Edgehill ?
RUDDY fits in 1d, but why? I don't see how to get that from the clue. Could someone explain please?
It's a double meaning
ruddy as in weather beaten and also as a substitute swear word

ruddy means weatherbeaten, it's also a mild expletive like flipping.
