Ooh, thanks - I forgot about that! :) x
where will it be, stoke ? (and don't say "in the sky...") - where do we look?
Will we need Bruce Willis and a damn fine ballad from aerosmith or just night vision binoculars?

lol boxtops...really just look up...they usually provide 50 or more meteors an hour...you really cant miss them...loads of shooting stars....
For Boxtops:
The meteors will appear to be coming from the east but, depending upon where they hit the Earth's atmosphere (and start to burn up) they could actually appear anywhere in the sky:

I remember the first time I saw it about 15 years ago. I went see friends in the country, so it was really dark - no light pollution at all - and a group of us lay on a blanket in a field and saw the most amazing shooting stars ever. Breathtaking!
At what time will this happen?
The simple answer to that question is, Micmak, is "when it's dark"!

The meteor shower lasts for several days, peaking around the 12th and the 13th. They'll be burning up in the atmosphere throughout all of that time but, because of the brightness of the sun, they'll only be visible during darkness (and, of course, when there's very little cloud cover).
we are off out at about 9:30pm my daughter is quite excited about it :)
just watched the weather forecast and in my area - Kent/East Sussex - lots of cloud about - in fact the cheerful weather girl commented that yesterday was probably the best bet to watch this event! Gee thanks for that .
Saw about 12 in half an hour. One really bright one which left an iridescant trail for few seconds. Amazing.
From what was a brilliantly clear night, we now have thick cloud. I've been out a few times, but seen nothing.
benny's just seen one but I can't see anything, the sky is really clear with stars, loads of planes, no showers though....
