Hey everyone, i am a car club owner and we are mainly based in essex at this current time. The police have enforced a Band of steel top the whole of essex that clamp down on car cruisers. This has affected hundreds of car fanatics. We meet up in a unsed area after 8:00pm and are usually home by 12pm But this has been stopped by the police Seizing cars & bikes from us for the look and sounds of our cars. What can we do to get our own plot of land dedicated to car fanatics just to meet up and have a chat about cars & bikes. Here is a local newspaper topic please read and tell me what you think... and how can we put a stop to this! Its not fair we do no harm yet we are an easy target! They pick on us.. Please Help!

According to the article you've linked you do lots of harm, so fair play to the police. Why should the local council or private land-owner be forced to clear up after you?
Why not contact the Echo and see if they will put your side across.

"But this has been stopped by the police Seizing cars & bikes from us for the look and sounds of our cars"
so the cars are on the roads illegally? Surely they will seize your cars wherever they are then?

Was it your club at the services at stansted sunday night. Parked on the roadways, the noise and language scaring children, many cars without front numberplates?

I can see where some people may not want the clubs around. There will always be some of the groups that causing commotion and the noise can be terrible, especially late at night.

I do hope that you find a legal answer though
why not buy a piece of land? That way you can do what you want on it, you aren't causing a nusiance and you can make as much mess as you like
theyd still be restricted to keep noise levels down, bednobs. Plus if the cars are not road legal they would still be committing offences driving there.

Michael Carroll's house is still up for sale. He had lots of cars in the back garden so may be room.
What is a cruiser?
red, do you live near carrolls house in Swaffham?
Southend sea front is a popular place for cruising cars at night.

Young scallywags racing pretty cars with the music on loud? I presume that they congregate somewhere and cause noise pollution. This would be annoying.

Thanks for the clips DrF - I shall look out for such vehicles in my little bit of Scotland. I take it that this is mainly a male hobby.
the cars are great and most are ok, but when they have large groups late at night and they wake you up ?

Hey thanks for all the comments. All of my members cars are fully road legal and meet all regulations. Any member not following rules are dealt with accordingly. We clear up after ourselves and keep our noise levels down in built up areas.. we stick to the speed limits. We just want to fight back as police find the odd 2% that are bad and take it out on the whole of us.

Basildon council recently spent a stupid amount on a hollywood lookalike sign. This could have gone to a car related sport. We have alot of unused car parks and a old runway! It would be nice if they could gives us our own space and as the club owner i will take full responsibilty for the clearing up and keeping trouble to a minimum.

Everyone loves to slate the youth of today and i believe this is wrong! If they want to have a fiberglassed car/truck then dont pick on them because of it.

Police pick on motorists as they are a easy target
I think that most of today's youth are good members of society. It is hard being young, especially a teenager, and life is so much more complicated than 'when I was a girl'.

If your group were meeting on an old airfield or somewhere else out of the way then there is no reason that they should enjoy their hobby as much as older people.

Try doing work for charity that is visible to gently get over the message that you are a harmless bunch.
this was a friends car in the seventies, was a lead car from the indy 500 race and had an american parking ticket fine stuck to the windscreen

I was serious when I said you should contact the echo and offer to put your side across, they might be more interested than you think, try it, you might get your club in the paper.
i have no problems with car enthusiasts meeting up to compare cars and discuss their common interest.

but i cant get around this "the police Seizing cars & bikes from us for the look and sounds of our cars" and "All of my members cars are fully road legal and meet all regulations"

so are the police seizing cars for no reason? if so, make complaints.
Or is it that you are atracting illegal cars to your meets who are the ones causing the nuisances?
