Ok hopefully this will be my last question about Gold. I read in the Daily Mail today that "Gold traded at $1,233.95 per troy ounce yesterday" which is approx £847 per troy ounce. I have been offered just over £700 for three troy ounces of scrap gold that I want to sell. Is this a good deal or not, or would it be better to hang onto it rather than sell at the moment ? I realise jewellers have to make a profit !

if it's 9 carat it's a reasonable price

A third of the trading price ??
yes, if it's 9 carat. gold is traded at 24 carat

Oh thanks, lowry, I didn't think of that. Do you think I should sell at the moment or hang on, is it likely to go up significantly (probably a silly question but worth asking, I doubt if you are psychic !)
Can't see it going up much more, even after todays events. It seems the best time to sell, but i shouldn't send it off to these cash for gold places. Try locally.
