wow, he`s got at least another 3 years in jail!
how come the have-a-go heroes weren't charged with assault?
what exactly is it the judges are supposed to learn? How to foretell the future?

I would have thought it's the robber who is failing to learn.
Since when has early release been the responsibility of judges?

The majority of early release is automatic, mandated by Government legislation.
Non-automatic early release, for more serious criminal offences, is authorised by the independent body known as the Parole Board.
