I can now reveal that 'Strix the horticulturist' was kinder to you this week.
Kinda cranky, yes – but kinda generous as well.

His chosen links were:

Onion DOME
MASHED potato
SWEET pea
Bean FEAST

Some of those were even hinted at in his preamble.

Whether you read it or not, 18 players gathered up 37 points between you – the highest so far this month.

WOW! - Three of the four links fell in the very first minute!

The first link of SWEET PEA fell to the very first player, roslyn251254, for two points. This proved a very popular choice with Grenmus, jan1956, miss meg, Aquagility, slaney and seekeerz all gaining 2 points for being within 2 minutes and a further 6 later entrants gained a single point.

A hungry Dinkypuzzled picked up 2 points for the second link of BEAN FEAST which accounted for three later singles.

The third of the early matches was the MASHED POTATO, the dance of choice for jan1956, miss meg and seekeerz – all double-hitters who raised their score for this week to 4 points. Two others picked up a single here as well.

Does structured gardening invoke thoughts of ONION DOMEs? It obviously did with three players, but only one, rockfordill, qualified for 2 points who also picked up a single elsewhere making 3 pts.

So who will be *** HOTSHOT OF THE WEEK *** ?
None other than 'x-ray' who was this week's only TREBLE Hitter but alas, at 10:41, too late for bonus points and so just 3 points against this month's formidable foe.
**** CONGRATULATIONS X-ray *** well deserved – and if I could play any of Crofter's instruments, I'd be giving you a fanfare.

Here are the standings after week 3 of March.

8 Points:- jan1956 - Well done Jan, *** CURRENT LEADER ***
7 Points:- miss meg & seekeerz
6 Points:- Grenmus & x-ray
5 Points:- wickedtongue
4 Points:- beejay1124, tearinghair, Dustybun, ulysses100 & deecee131
3 Points:- lysander, rockfordill & twix123
and a tail of 9 on 2 Points and 13 on 1 Point.

It looks like the ladies have got the measure of Strix. Will they be able to hold on to their lead?
Come back next week to find out.
Shrubery opens Friday evening between 7 and 8
The game is introduced at 8:45am next Saturday and gets underway at 9:00 sharp.
Until then, it is 'Cheers for now' from gen2 :-)

ell done x-ray, jan1056 and all you other Clever Susans. And thanks Strix and Gen2.
Thanks Strix and Gen2, and congratulations to all scorers. I wasn't on Strix's wavelength at all this week but I'll try to twist my mind in the right direction next Saturday.
Hi gen2!

As I don't see Dinkypuzzled's name on the Leaderboard do I assume that it was a typo and that the first Bean Feast was mine? D :0)
Question Author
My apologies to both of you.

Yes of course it was you Dustybun that matched BEAN FEAST as your points correctly reflect.

Dinkypuzzled is still on 1 point gained in week 1. Sorry if I raised your hopes.

When reading it off my abacus, I had inadvertantly strayed onto the row of beads above, so not really a typo - rather a sqinty eye.

.
I got a point! Hurrah!

Well done to X-Ray and all the other points scorers.
Thanks to Strix and gen2.
I think I've just got my membership for the free-fall club :-)
Thanks gen2... at last I seem to have read into Strix's mind.
Is that good or bad ?
Well done the rest of you especially jan1956, although I see Aquagility has made you 900 years older !!!
Next weekends contest could be very interesting. See you all then.
