I don't know the average entry but I am told that for the difficult ones they receive less than 100 correct entries.

Many thanks - I though as much, but couldn't find any references, and I had my hyphen at 23 until I had a closer look at the OED. Fewer than 100 entries for a hard one almost makes it worth trying to post one from the Congo.
