Do some on this site still believe that Britain could never become an Islamic State?

yes.
I'm with JNO on this, it's no different to other fringe groups in other political parties, like the militant tendency of the 1980s, how much credence and publicity you give these groups is based entirely on one's own agenda and prejudice.
The difference is, 123, that the Militant Tendency and various other fringe groups were not multiplying at rate far in excess of those who did not share their views. Quite the reverse, in fact.

There is no question that followers of Islam tend generally to have more children than many who do not share their faith. It is not a question of whether Muslims will eventually outnumber other faiths in the UK, but simply of when. In parts of London and other large conurbations Muslims already predominate to the extent that the requirements of non-Muslims are swept aside. Quite simply, those areas are already almost exclusively Muslim and anyone visiting them would not believe they are in England.

It will take some time – if you look at the numbers probably far longer than most of the scaremongers suggest - but it will happen both in the UK and in most of Western Europe.
Although it's not possible to say it will never happen, it's as likely as aog posting something positive about Muslims and Islam in general...
muslims always have and always will be a threat to this country, and they need to be stopped before its too late.
Could you make that "Muslim extremists", baz? - there are thousands of Muslims in the world - and Jews and those of other faiths, including Christians - who mean no harm at all, they just want to get on with their lives without bothering anyone else.
"Militant Tendency and various other fringe groups were not multiplying at rate far in excess of those who did not share their views2

and they werent trying to destroy the identity or the culture of this country just its political views

Well I have thought about it for the last half hour, and no, I still cannot think of anything positive regarding Muslims and Islam.

Perhaps you can help me out?
New Judge - a bit like Catholics then? Used to have very large families - don't remember them taking over and changing the lawss. Of course, if you were a conspiracy theorist, then you could say that the last PM was only elected because he was a Catholic. Of course, he changed most of the laws of this country to laws more friendly towards Catholics - eg more rights for Gays, revoking the Synod, making abortions illegal etc etc. Oh, sorry, no he didn't. My mistake!

Can Britain ever become a Muslim state? Yes, it is possible. It is also possible that we will invent a pill that makes us live for ever.

Will Britain become a Muslim state in my lifetime? On simple mathematics, no it won't
In your lifetime isn't the issue, Vic.

clippetyclop, are you serious? And if so, are you male or female?
naomi - how long do you want to give? I have said no to 50 years. I wouldn't even think 100 years. maybe 200 years?

Think about how society has changed in the last 100 years.

50 years ago, Women didn't have the vote and couldn't take out credit.
100 years ago, a lot of Blacks were slaves in America.
Native Indians in America and Aborigines in Australia were killed without any issue
less than 200 years ago, criminals were shipped off to Australia

What about Religion?

Currently several states in America are only looking at teaching Creationism.
60 years ago, Israel didn't exist - neither did Pakistan

Who knows what will happen in the next 50 years?
Do you really think that you can predict the future?
Clipperty - I have two step children. Please see my above answer regarding timings.
Well said Vic, I aske the people who fear the Muslim takeover, is this film accurate?

I don't much care whether there are more people of any one religion or another about. What I do care about is whether the religion is part of the running of the country, including whether the limitation/exclusion of any religion is involved. I regard religion a private matter. I am not religious and I know lots of Muslims who keep their religion pretty much to themselves - apart from following it to the extent of breaking for prayers at the obvious times. None of these people object to my agnosticism, nor do I object to their religion. The same people have no designs on taking over any non-Muslim country or the world and would recoil with hurt at any suggestion of it. I do know, however, that there are people who identify themselves as Muslims and do have such designs but I also know that there are an even larger (much larger) number of Muslims who have no time for the extremists. Further, like Christianity went through a phase of militancy (not yet fully extinguished in some quarters), Islam has seen its militant era (more still remaining in evidence than with the Christian equivalent), I am also convinced that enlightenment among Muslims is firmly on the march and winning the argument. Finally, progress toward general moderation and tolerance continues to be challenged by sycophants on all sides who persist in fanning mistrust and hatred through trumpeting of simplistic analysis of events. For certain, depressing moments will continue to occur in history, but we have nothing to fear as much as fear itself. Ignorance and bigotry will not win any argument.

/// you could say that the last PM was only elected because he was a Catholic.///

Didn't Tony Blair become a Catholic much later after he had become PM?

/// Think about how society has changed in the last 100 years.///

Think about how this country has changed in the last 50 years.

Back in 1960, if one was to read a book of life in 2010 England, it would have had all the makings of a horror movie.

George Orwell author who wrote 1984 (who incidentally died in 1950) would be turning in his grave.
Unlikely but the way they are infiltrating the labour party we could see our society changed dramatically . You can already see this in towns where the councillors are largely muslim.
