A man is transporting a lettuce a goat and a wolf over a river. he can only put one thing in the boat with him

The goat eats the lettuce

And the wolf eats the goat

How should he tranporte the items over the river with the least attempts

Take the Goat over,return empty.
Take the Lettuce over,return with the Goat,drop him off then take the Wolf over,return empty and pick up the Goat again and take him over.

Put the wolf in the boat and row over. Done.

 

(You have already said that the goat ate the lettuce, and the wolf ate the goat.)

the man takes the goat over first then goes back for the wolf he takes the wolf over the river then he goes back for the lettuce and takes the goat with him he puts the goat down with the lettuce and takes the lettuce over to where the wolf is then he goes back for the goat.
