MM and KM Links September 2009 [Week 4]

Good Evening AB Linkers, everywhere!
Welcome to this fourth and final week in the reign of Lady Jill (aka tearinghair), who is still having her serenity challenged every time the newly vamped AnswerBank misbehaves. Having her as this month’s setter has been a Godsend, as I needed someone who could deal with a rollercoaster ride from AB without flinching!
After three years running MM Links, I never cease to be amazed at the wealth of talent and personality that we have among our ranks. Each month, we have an opportunity to learn a little about one of our “cyber friends” and the experience is most uplifting! Each one of us has a story to tell, as Life has often thrown us each a serious challenge to deal with as best we can. We are all survivors! You may well be surprised to learn that behind each one of us acting the fool, there is real intelligence ~ you need a convincing IQ to be able to act the idiot (with confidence). This point was made on several occasions by members of The Goons!

Tomorrow will begin the final act, as Lady Jill will prepare to pass her crown over to a newly elected setter of the MM Links. Her final posting should open at the regular time of 08.45am and her four words to be linked declared at 09.00am, when MM Links kicks off in earnest. Please look out for the international version of this same game, which is called KM Links and kicks off at a slightly earlier hour. Both games rely on your ability to predict link words in advance and remain open for most of the weekend and all entries are scored and recorded on master scoreboards. All newcomers are welcome to participate in either Game ~ or both Games!
I am crofter and (as usual) I take responsibility for organising and scoring the MM Links Games; and I pay tribute to my opposite number, Steff (aka seekeerz), all the way from the Land of Oz to score the KM Link Games. Several leaders are poised for the final dash to the line. Many are MM ex-champions, but one (in particular) has yet to experience MM Links glory. I shall be keeping an eye on their performance over this last leg!

I've just got a few minutes before I have to shoot off (back later) but would like to ask what others think about the new Ab now? Without wanting to appear contentious or anything, I have to say that I can now use this site so much faster and easier than before. I can go back to any page I want ~ even amazingly to the very first thing I typed in back in 2005 ~ and that only took a matter of seconds! It seems submitting is quicker too ~ the post appears as soon as I click the submit answer button. Am I alone in this?

Evening all. I don't know about serenity, Crofter, I'm thinking of changing my name from tearinghair to Baldy..... the re-vamped site is fine when it's working properly, but it keeps having glitches. Yesterday it had reversed the chronology of all the posts so that if you wanted to see the latest ones you had to go to the Last page. They put that right after a few hours, but I'm wondering what they have up their sleeves for tomorrow morning!
Yesterday, out of curiosity, I went to see what you had all been up to and, regardless of reversing the chronological order etc., the most recent post I could see was Sept 4th !!
It was a bit like going to the chippy and reading the paper around your supper!

She seems, recently, to have been dressing up for fishy themes.
But then maybe not.
As the only problem, considering her recent fancy dress costume, is she might come back jellied eels.
Me, the late night scrapings from the bottom of the deep fat fryer after a few pints of rot-gut would suit me fine!
