There is definately a different time when on holiday. In Cancun the pool bar only opened at 12 noon and they only started serving the vodka daquiris then, and it was about 110 degrees and the only cool place was in the pool under the thatched bar!!!
I struggle if I have a drink at lunch time with a pub meal, it makes me drowsy. On a sunday afternoon it's nice to have a drink sitting in the garden.
Mostly it should be after 8pm though when the evening is sorted and everyone is settled!

I have always had a psychological block at 12 midday, that's when the sun rises above the yardarm. However, in extreme or extenuating circumstances, e.g. severe hangover, Christmas Day, then earlier will do.

A problem with starting early is that is can be very difficult to stop for the rest of the day!
my neighbour across the road was drinking a can of carling when he was setting off for work at 6.50am

I dont drink alcohol, but I like a nice cup of tea at around 7am
well i'm off to the pub now.......

but i'll be setting up the bar, i can tell you that bill will be standing on the doorstep at 10.55 waiting for his pint of mild, closely followed by derek, den, ron and assorted others!

enjoy your pint!
hi fluffy (I've got a new job BTW) my son has just got up cos he is opening the bar at 12 today. They are next door to a bookies so it is always busy early. he worked til 1.45 last night too, (I know cos I picked him up) his boss has broken his leg in a scuffle with drinkers in the bar , so my son is working 40 odd hours a week just now.
There are always the same blokes standing outside the pub before it opens at his place, never any women, what does that tell you ? lol
Probably mid day. I have some nice rose wine waiting for me, but I wont have it just yet, I have work to do! Might reward myself with a glass after though ;0)
Always brought up to belive you had to wait til 12, but it has been known for me to start earlier! Our local Wetherspoons opens at 9am and ther's always a queue of old boys waiting outside before it opens.
Time is immaterial; beer is always present.
