Is the E or N needed for another word?
I've put torn, but thats nowt to go by!
I'd always go for the past participle on the assumption it's being used as an adjective so torn rather than tore. Others will, no doubt, differ.
Novalis is correct it is torn.
Grammatically, I believe the answer should be "torn". If the clue had said (I/you/he etc) ripped, then it would have been "tore". As the clue merely said "ripped", the most logical/correct answer is "torn", as a past participle, but perhaps the compiler had other ideas!!!

You can tell I was a teacher, can't you.................!!!
